WELCOME TO THE LEP BLOG!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! This is where I give families sneak peeks of their fabulous sessions and rant and rave about the amazing job I have! I LOVE what I do, capturing love moments of babies, families and everything in between! At this time, I am unable to do weddings, events, and large families.

Color and contrast on my blog are very dull. It's a problem I've been having for over a year now and hopefully it will lead to a new blog soon.

Fix It Fridays @ iheartfaces :-)

This is my second week participating in iheartfaces "Fit It Fridays"!

Original Image

My Edit
The reason I choose BW is because I find it difficult to do snow BW's. I love contrast so that makes it difficult for me. I also didn't see many BW's in the other entries so I wanted to try it out. Anyway, this is how I edited it...

1. Cropped to get her in 2/3's of the image, more eye catching
2. TRA's Dirty Actions-Booty LaRue Hard @ 32%
3. TRA's BAMF 8 bit 100%
4. TRA's Ying/Yang
-Ying 30% over face and hair
-Yang 20% slightly over edge of image

Head on over to iheartfaces for more Fix It Friday entries, and don't forget to enter yourself :-)

Week 4 "Textures" iheartfaces Photo Challenge

This week at iheartfaces, the challenge was texture. It could be any kind of texture, au natural or using photoshop to add to your photo. Since I do 99% of my work outdoors it isn't hard to incorporate texture for me. What was hard was choosing any image for this contest!!! I was drawn to this one because of the complimentary colors and the several areas of completely different texture. The vines in the background, her horizontal stripes and linen texture on her dress, to her vertical curls draping her face. I know it isn't the most creative angle (a little traditional for me), but I thought this was classic and stunning.

This was edited months ago so I don't remember which texture I used, I just know it was a very subtle rust color. I wanted it to just add that touch without taking away from all the already amazing texture.

Don't forget to head over to iheartfaces to see all the other amazing textures submissions

I heart faces- #41 Fix it

This is my first I heart faces fix it!!! They will post an image and allow you to download it and fix it however way you'd like. I know many of you love to see before and afters so hopefully this will be the first of many I heart faces fit its!!

After reading the post for this image, my heart was broken. To read this families story and find their blog links, click the icon below. This was their original image.

My Edit
I exclusively use Totally Rad Actions (at least for now anyway!). I love them! I first cropped and tilted it and then did the following actions

Oh Snap 100% (I love color and contrast!)
Saturation brush 35% on all color objects
Lux Soft 100%
Get Faded Autumn 40% ( Since the photo was obviously taken in Autumn it just felt right)
Get Faded Spring 10% (wanted to bring more of the greens out)
Get Faded Winter 15%
New Layer-Brush, Black 20% around edges (I'm not a huge fan of vignette actions, so I try to replicate that effect but more subtle)
Adjustments Linear Contrast

Week 3 "We are family" photo challenge!

I'm finally entering a photo challenge at one of my favorite websites I &heart faces!

This week was most unique and fun family photo. They wanted a large family with a variety of ages but because of my clientele that was difficult. I do a TON of younger families. But it wasn't hard for me to pick my favorite family image of this year. This was my third session this year with this amazing family so we had to spice things up a bit! I always love getting to capture real feelings and real emotions, this family is so full of love and laughter and it never ceases to show.

Blessings to you all!!!

Updates

This is normally my "vacation"/slow time but my inbox is quite full of inquires and questions (which is AWESOME!) so I thought I'd head to the blog to let everyone know what's going on!

1. Dec. through March I do not work outside, for obvious reasons but if a nice day creeps up on us, people have been known to snatch me up and get outside.(Feb 2. last year was 78
degrees...you better believe I was working!) This is also my time to get ready for the
new year, update files, packages, services, etc. On top of that, this year a new website and logo! So lots of work on!

2. I am still taking commissions for newborns (3-12 days old) or babies (1 month-1 year)
indoors, in your own home, and any crazy soul who wants to venture outdoors (seniors/families/engagements/kids/business). I will only be taking a limited number each month, so feel free to inquire about availability. I've really enjoyed the babes I've gotten to work with recently and so excited for the ones I have on the schedule in the next couple months!

3. I started a new business in digital design over on Etsy. Cecilia Street Designs provides
custom digital cards for all occasions. Just updated with Valentine cards, so fun and cute! These can be sent to families or attached to your child's Valentine treat :-) Check out
all the fun going on at CSD!

email: ceciliastreetdesigns@gmail.com

I've also been asked by several people how I came up with the name
(well those who haven't known me since I was born.) I was raised for 9 years of my life(first 9 years of my life!) on Cecilia Street in Sioux City, IA. In two different homes nonetheless. It's crazy how much I actually remember from growing up on that street and the memories always bring a smile to my face!

4. Unfortunately, I will not be doing weddings in 2010. I'm happy to refer you to some fabulous photogs, if you need some help!

5. That being said, I also do not do large families. I do not have the lenses needed to produce fabulous quality large group photos.

6. Head shots you ask? Well, I do outdoor informal head shots for the non
-corporate world. ie...I will be doing Jen Sueper's head shots and artwork photos as well as new business cards and post cards, for her uber fabulous business Ferris Artistry soon. So excited, come back to check out her stuff! If you have your own business and are in need of revamping for 2010, let me know!

6. I am booking for Spring 2010. If there is a particular date you have to have because of family in town, a birthday, will only be in town for that day, etc. Let me know and I'll get you on the calendar. I'm a planner, so my schedule is ready to go and be filled :-)

7. I have many projects (business and personal photography) in the works, some new fun things for 2010!

8. Like mentioned in the below post, I'm taking applications for 2010 Senior Team Members. Email me for all the details and to get an application!
Enjoy the warmup and hope to see you soon!
