WELCOME TO THE LEP BLOG!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! This is where I give families sneak peeks of their fabulous sessions and rant and rave about the amazing job I have! I LOVE what I do, capturing love moments of babies, families and everything in between! At this time, I am unable to do weddings, events, and large families.

Color and contrast on my blog are very dull. It's a problem I've been having for over a year now and hopefully it will lead to a new blog soon.

Do you live in one of these cities????

Does your son turn 1 this summer and need to get his pics taken? Are you expecting a little one in the fall? Or is your ridiculously old family picture need updating? Or maybe your looking for super fun and unique senior pictures from someone outside of your own town? If you are in any one of the following cities, let me know if you are interested in a session. I have started a list for all of them.....

Sioux City, IA
Lincoln, NE
Kearney, NE
Boone, IA
Okoboji, IA
Des Moines, IA
Kansas City, MO
Chicago, IL

All types of sessions can be booked...newborn, babies, birthday sessions, families, maternity, engagement, and seniors.

You can check my travel list to the left for specific dates of some. There may be other dates in the same cities too if need be. It's all kind of up in the air until I get a good idea of the number of sessions in each city, picking a weekend, etc. So don't hesitate to get your name on the list so specific dates can be scheduled and we can start having some fun!

I am BOOKING :-)

Oh now that it's a balmy 33 degrees out and my inbox is full of inquires, I decided it's time to start booking!!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!

I've been having a blast with all these newborns and if you are expecting anytime let me know, I'd be happy to fit you in.

After looking at the far out weather forecast and basically predicting when will be a good time, I'm thinking late March is when it's going to be nice enough to get out. So if you have inquired or been thinking about your upcoming session, now's the time to get it in the calendar. I am a planner so I will start booking through the summer as I know many of you are also big planners :-)

New website is coming mid-March, cross your fingers!!

If you haven't seen already, I posted my travel schedule. I am booking in some of them so please contact me if you are in these areas and would like a session! I get inquires frequently from other cities and have started lists for a few cities. If you would like me to come to your town, let me know. If I get a few sessions booked up, I'll be happy to make the trip!

Hope to see you soon!!

I loved this image, with her beautiful prego curves :-)

Check out these sites...

This is going to be a very different post. I am a huge blog reader and internet shopper and I purchase 75% of my photography equipment and props online, as well as, things for my family. So the internet is my world of info and products. With that being said, I thought I'd share my favorite blogs or online shops. These will be wide ranging because that's how I roll people! You may not have interest in all of them, but I hope one of them sparks your interest or you find it new and totally you!

1. Groupon- If you haven't heard of it yet, you are totally missing out!!! I heard about it a month ago before they even offered it in Omaha. It started last monday and it's been awesome! They have had super deals (40% to 80% off) on some great new places I've never heard of in Omaha.

How it works, click here, sign up and you'll receive an email every morning with that days Groupon. You have 24 hours to purchase the groupon. Each groupon will have a certain number it must sell for the deal to be on. So you will not get charged until the deal is on. Once the deal is on you'll receive an email to go print your groupon. Click the link that will take you to your groupon account and print your groupon. You will have to bring your groupon with you when redeeming it.

We've always been super savers here at our house. We only go out if we have a coupon or gift card and never buy anything unless it's on sale, so this has been great. So if you like saving money and trying new things in town, this is for you!!!!

2.Etsy- Most of you have heard of it but talking to some new people who aren't mom's or photographers they know nothing about it. I told most of my newborn mommies, they had no idea, so I knew this was one I had to post. This is a huge online handmade marketplace. I use this for most of photo props. Instead of just saying go to etsy and find some fun stuff, here are 2 stores I've purchased from...
Stores I WANT to purchase from :-)
Omaha Esty shops :-)-The advantage of purchasing from an Omaha store, faster shipping and you may also be able to pick it up from them :-)

I literally have 19 pages of favorite shops, so really this is such a small portion of things you'll find on there. Mine are obviously kid and photographer based, but you will find furniture, designer clothes, jewelry, beautiful paper goods, etc. Once you start looking around you'll be hooked! It's the place to find unique, handmade EVERYTHING! So have fun :-)

3. Mommy Blog- Ok so I literally have a million in my blog roll, but I am going to only post one this time. That means I do have to do this post again hehe! The Misadventures of Kelly and Kelly is my fav Omaha mommy blog. But I am biased she is a friend of mine and I just love her posts! You'll find recipes, crafts, sewing, books, travels, pregnancy, birthing, thrift shopping, you name it, oh and all about her ridiculously adorable family. And yes her and her husband are both Kelly's :-) Enjoy!

4. Homeschool Blog- Since dabbling in this or should I say delving into this recently, I found a Catholic homeschool blog in town. She is FUNNY and straight to the point. Sometimes I think people who come into the faith later in life know so much more than those who are brought up in it. Karen Edmisten an author and her blog is all things catholic, writing and homeschooling. Seriously funny! Even if you don't homeschool or your not a big book reader, her posts about her faith are incredible (especially her recent Lenten one wow!)

5. Craft Blog- Seriously this blog will blow your mind. She goes and finds a million fabulous crafts in the blog world and posts the links on her blog. She never misses all the great holiday crafts and finds the most unique things to do with your kids. The Crafty Crow is your place to find something fun to do with your kids during these ridiculously cold and snowy days. Oh totally not Omaha, sorry!

6. Fat Brain Toys- If you haven't stopped at this store in Village Point you are missing out. It has the greatest toys. Huge store with tons of room and the shelves are packed with so many fabulous things. Many things I've found online and didn't know that there was a store in town that carried them. Fat Brain probably has it. You're probably wondering why I'm adding it to this list, well because you can shop from the comfort of your own home, in their online shop :-)

7. Omahatogo.com- Seriously when you become a mom and have 2 crazy kids who can't sit still to eat or sit and wait for a table, take out is your best friend on the weekends. I found this site a few years ago and it's extremely helpful. You get 200+ Omaha restaurants that have take out, you get their full menu and number right at your finger tips. Happy Take Out!

8. Momaha.com- Awesome name right! This is a fabulous new site for the mom's and dad's out there. I've already won 2 giveaway's on here, crazy!!!! Great articles, a HUGE forum, coupons, and tons of lists for all things about your family. I should also mention Moms of Omaha as well. This one has been up for a couple years now and it is MY place to find all our fun activities. I just LOVE their calendar for family and kids events!

9. Cooking Blog- Prepare for mouthwatering delicious recipes and images. Jamie's food looks amazing!!!! I just found this through another site a week ago and just had blast looking through all here amazing recipes. I plan on trying the breakfast cups soon, so fun and different. She also has a big blog list of other Omaha cooking blogs and others.

10. Remedy Drive- It's been 10 years since I've been following this band and saw them in college a couple times. They are actually from Lincoln, but used to play in Omaha frequently. Now they are big Christian stars so they don't play as often here. They now open up for oh ya know, Mercy Me and David Crowder now :-) They rock! They'll be in the big O Mar. 20. You can click their news feed to get their super funny and inspiring videos and posts and of course rock out to their full list of songs on the front page.

Even though I have a million others, I will hold off for another post. Maybe next time I'll venture a little further out of my realm of motherhood and photography :-) Also if you have a site you'd like me to feature, email me :-) Hope you enjoy them!

Fix It Fridays @ iheartfaces :-)

I missed last weeks fix it fridays :-( So I was determined to get in this week! Super cute photo from a contributor to I heart faces. As you can see it's very much cool tones and dark. I really wanted to make the little princess stand out. Many of the entries cropped it in but I found that if I left all the stuff in the background and brightened her up she would stand out more then being cropped. Let me know what you think!

Original Image
Edited Image
1. Lighted all the shadows and little Emma, using Ying.
2. Lux Soft (100%) I love this action because it softens not only the front of the image but the entire back of the image which really makes things pop.
3. Lux Hard (100%) I normally would not use this action but it really needed some more lightening.
4. Lightened Emma again using, Ying.
5. Saturated her outfit.
6. Burn Out- Edge burn 40%
-Vignette 30%
7. Johnny Thunderpants Texture Overlay from TRA Dirty Pictures 70%
-erased off Emma

Let me know what you think of my edit!!

Sam-19 days

What an adorable little man! Sam was just a peach, and that hair was to die for! Although just having eaten and not taken a long morning snooze, he fought us like crazy to not sleep haha! He is going to be a fighter! Luckily we moved fast when he did sleep.

Sam was a little poser. I never had to move his hands or arms, he just put them in the perfect spots!

Nicole...thank you letting me come hang out for awhile and capture your precious little Sam. He's beautiful and oh so perfect! Enjoy!

Aiden @ 6 months :-)

This little man was just the sweetest and the greatest personality! Funny faces and just as happy as can be. Dad and Grandma helped a ton and we had so much fun! Isn't he soo cute!!!

He loved being naked and sitting in all my bowls and baskets!
This one is for momma! What a handsome little man with a great smile!
Brent and Kathryn...thank you so much for allowing me to capture your little man's big milestone. 6 months is just the best age and he really was great! Enjoy them and I'll be in touch soon!

Keenan-8 days

Mr. Keenan is so precious! He was awesome, slept most of the time and even when he was awake he couldn't have been any more calm and collected. Keenan is Bridget & Travis's first little mini me. He's just a peanut at around 7 lbs.

It was tough catching his smiles, but while no one else was watching I was snapping away and there he went :-) Mom had these adorable overalls, just loved them! Don't forget that sweet mohawk!
Seems like this is becoming theme with my sessions these days. Mom and dad are big Iowa fans!
Bridget and Travis...I am so happy for you and this little man is a keeper :-) I had a wonderful time, could have stayed all day! Enjoy your sneak peek, be in touch soon !!!

Carsten...17 days

What a joy this session was! Mr. Carsten and his family came over to my fabulous studio (aka...my parents amazing basement!) for a session on Sat. They are a friend of a friend of a friend referral, does that even make sense. See the word is spreading, which is amazing! Anyway, we had a super fun time, first trying to get the little man to sleep. So we got some awake ones first that I just love. He is such a cutie!

This one's for dad! GO BIG RED! Check out those beautiful lips!
This one's for mom :-)
Thank you Kira and Brandon for your patience and for letting me capture these moments! It was truly my pleasure, be in touch soon!

Thuc + Jen = Springroll

Yea for my first session of 2010!!!!! My husband(T.J.) and Jen have been friends for 15 years :-) and we are so happy and lucky to have her and Thuc in our lives. They are such wonderful people and have been such a blessing to my business. They send anyone and everyone my way and I am so grateful for them!! They are anxiously, or should I say ANXIOUSLY awaiting Springroll to arrive. Yes, that is this beautiful babe's nickname and I just love it! They do not KNOW what they are having but are about 98% sure it's a boy :-) In lew of Valentine's day, I made cupcakes in the shape of hearts and we incorporated them in various ways in our session...sooo fun!

STUNNING!
T.J. is their boys name, short for Thuc Junior :-)
Jen & Thuc...thank you so much for letting me capture these moments before little Springroll arrives. I know you are sooo ready, we are praying for an early arrival and a healthy baby boy!!
